Brief-focused intervention

This approach to therapy is designed to be efficient and focused on solving a client's problems.

Cognitive behavioral therapy

This goal-oriented approach to therapy has a definite structure. The goals are to change the way a person responds to his or her environment. Exercises can include relaxation training, assertiveness training, biofeedback and hypnosis.

Conflict resolution & mediation

The process in which a conflict between two or more parties is structured and alternatives are proposed in the presence of a neutral party, who serves to advise the process by which the conflict will be resolved. The mediator is not an advisor in this case.

Couples and family therapy

In this type of therapy, the goal is for family members to work towards a family equilibrium that is neither a chaotic nor rigid. The therapist facilitates the creation of new family relationship patterns, understanding and experiences.

Cross-cultural consultation

Assisted interventions to enhance each participant's capacity to relate to and understand other groups. Tools to enrich and develop ways to become conscious of culture as it relates to mental health and mental health setting.

Culturally-focused therapy

This integrated, holistic approach combines various therapeutic disciplines in order to address psychological, physical and spiritual levels of resistance within couples and individuals and move them towards increased awareness and in new directions.

Dream analysis

Work with dreams as images from the unconscious to create a healthy relationship between the person's inner and outer lives.

Group therapy and support groups

The focus of group therapy is to understand and change how a group of people behaves together. A safe place to explore roles that individuals play within groups, their positive attributes and the group's culture.

Hypnotherapy

In this approach to therapy both the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind are integrated to move a client efficiently towards their goals. It does this by meeting the need for resolution of unconscious resistances with healing, growth, and development.

Long-term psychotherapy

Long-term therapy relies on the unique and special relationship established between the therapist and the client or clients (unlike a friendship or familial relationship). The focus is on understanding and changing the client's behavior and circumstances.

Psychodyamic therapy

This therapy is primarily supportive, emphasizing a person's strengths, instead of challenging his or her defenses. Ideally it involves two visits per week for a period of time. The therapists' focus is on close observation and analysis. This method is generally less structured than other approaches.

Psychological evaluation

Assessment of an individual's psychological functioning.

Sandplay therapy

A therapeutic method in which the client is given a sandbox and figures that correspond to his or her inner state. Through this process, the unconscious materials are brought to the surface.

Systemic and behavioral medicine

Behavioral, psychosocial, and biomedical techniques used to prevent, diagnose and treat various mental health problems.
